Calls for XRP to replace Ethereum have been intensifying, particularly as Bitcoin reached new price highs while the second-largest cryptocurrency, XRP, significantly underperformed. Many considered ETH dead, favoring competitors within the smart contract ecosystem, such as Solana and SUI.
Commentators like John Deaton cite Wall Street's interest in XRP, particularly through ETFs, as a factor in his belief that XRP will surpass ETH this year. Meanwhile, Harvard engineer Austin King cited inflationary risks and increased competition as factors supporting XRP's replacement of Ethereum.
However, these skeptical voices have recently subsided, following Ethereum's unexpected comeback. Over the past 12 weeks, ETH has surged over 112%, making it the best performer among major cryptocurrencies.
In fact, some prominent industry figures predict that ETH will trade at $60,000 per coin in the future.
