Today I was wearing a Binance T-shirt and carrying an OKX bag.
This afternoon, I was hiking along the river with a friend when a young man suddenly rushed out, extremely agitated:
"Are you from OKX or Binance? You must know about crypto, right? My Ethereum (ETH) contracts are stuck!"
Before he finished speaking, he pulled out his phone and, before I could even speak, deftly opened the Binance interface (second from the bottom left on the main screen, the center position), pointing to his positions and saying: "ETH long at 4600, short at 2400, now completely stuck, what should I do?"
I glanced at it; it was indeed an ETH contract. The long position had lost almost $15,000 (red), and the short position had only made a tiny profit (green). My first thought was, "Holy crap, contracts, locked up."
·············· I casually remarked, "What's this? I don't understand."
"I thought you were an exchange employee."
"😂 I really don't understand. These clothes were a gift from a friend."
··············· After we parted, my friend revealed that this person had actually been following us for quite a while. Perhaps they were listening to whether we were talking about crypto...
That's the gist of the situation. On the way back, I thought about a few things, and these are my claims for today:
1. Don't wear exchange merchandise out casually; it's easy to be mistaken for "insiders," leading to unnecessary trouble.
PS: Exchange merchandise is actually quite well-made and of good quality.
Binance's yellow and black colors are highly recognizable, while OKX's are understated, sophisticated, and have a high-end design.
2. It's not that I discourage futures trading, but leverage amplifies not only returns but also greed, wishful thinking, and resentment.
Everyone knows risk management is important, but it's easier said than done! When you actually lose money, the hardest thing to control isn't your position size, but human nature.
On the road of life, some pitfalls you only learn their depth by stepping into them yourself.
15,000 US dollars is 100,000 RMB. If a working person loses their entire year's harvest, countless days and nights of hard work turned to ashes, it's incredibly painful.
Another situation that spirals out of control is wanting to borrow money to recoup losses…
3. The older you get, the more you understand that not everyone is a good fit for this path.
Whether it's a stranger or a relative or friend, when they ask such sensitive questions, often they don't want an answer; they just want the result of making money.
But once problems arise, it's often difficult to salvage the situation, and some relationships can even be ruined, even relationships with relatives.
4. The older you get, the more experience you have, and the more you realize that
You can be rich many times, but it's best not to be poor even once.
