Tempo and similar platforms are still working on L1. Besides factors like technological autonomy and valuation advantages, the biggest external factor is that Ethereum, as an L1 platform, hasn't fully achieved unified liquidity. Once interoperability is achieved, coupled with its unparalleled cost-effectiveness in security, any new L1 platform will be isolated from the existing ecosystem.
Therefore, the emergence of new L1 platforms essentially stems from Ethereum's insufficient network effect.
Besides technological iteration, Ethereum needs to consider how to effectively integrate L1 and L2 liquidity; this is both the best defense and the best offense.
