What are we talking about when we talk about investment discipline?
Today's Note:
Brother Shenyu mentioned Stoic philosophy today: "Risk management is paramount," corresponding to the control dichotomy—focus on what is controllable (processes, discipline, emotions), and abandon what is uncontrollable (market, macroeconomics, others).
I think this is the underlying logic of investment discipline.
I always remind myself to always remember: Only bear the pain you can endure, and only pursue returns you won't lose control of.
Because emotions are the enemy, not allies!
My current response is to immediately stop trading (go for a walk, close the trading software) if any of the following emotions occur:
1️⃣ Wanting to "win it back"
2️⃣ Wanting to "crush the opponent in one fell swoop"
3️⃣ Trading driven by anger, regret, or anxiety
Because I may not be that good, but if I survive several bull markets and become a long-term survivor, probability will take me to the winners' group.
This is investment discipline, and this method is particularly suitable for those who are humble in their understanding and pursue "longevity" rather than "quick wins."
