I just converted my USDT on eSpace to USDT0.
Why convert USDT to USDT0?
1. Smoother and more unified cross-chain functionality.
USDT0 uses LayerZero's OFT model for "message cross-chain + minting," meaning the same total supply flows across multiple chains. Therefore, cross-chain functionality doesn't rely on third-party liquidity pools. The essence of USDT0's cross-chain functionality is "burning from chain A to minting on chain B," making it less prone to liquidity disruptions.
2. Safer and lower-cost cross-chain transactions.
OFT's "native cross-chain" transactions typically don't charge extra transfer fees, only gas. Therefore, USDT0's cross-chain experience is closer to a "normal transfer." Older USDT, on the other hand, is issued independently on different chains, often requiring additional fees to the cross-chain bridge or limited partners (LPs) for cross-chain transactions.
P.S. If a cross-chain bridge is unfortunately attacked, the assets you transferred may be irretrievable. I personally suffered from the attacks on multichain bridges years ago, and many of my assets are still unrecoverable. 3. Future Ecosystem Composability May Be Stronger
In the future, more and more new applications, cross-chain clearing and settlement, and messaging protocols may prioritize integration with native cross-chain assets like USDT0. Therefore, USDT0 is generally more likely to participate in DeFi/payment/clearing and settlement scenarios where "one-click access across multiple chains" is possible.
