Polkadot 2.0 is about to be launched @Polkadot mainnet This is the biggest update in a few years, except for the unfinished JAM Polkadot 2.0 definition: Polkadot is a multi-core decentralized computer network that provides highly elastic and verifiable computing power through virtual cores. Chains that run continuously in parallel on different virtual cores are called Rollup chains. Core features: -Asynchronous support: allows pipeline operations, resulting in more efficient Rollup systems, providing higher throughput for Rollup without compromising security. -coretime: allows flexible allocation of cores for execution on Polkadot decentralized computers. -Elastic expansion: allows the same Rollup chain to use multiple cores at the same time to increase throughput. Compared with Polkadot1.0 using slot auctions (the most criticized mechanism), 2.0 abandoned the slot auction model and adopted [coretime] to create an agile market. In this market, coretime will become a commodity that can be tokenized, sold and traded. Rollup chains can purchase: -Bulk coretime: a standard way to purchase coretime at a fixed price and fixed term through the coretime system chain, with predictable renewal prices. -On-demand coretime: purchase coretime on demand through continuous sales and use it immediately at spot prices In 1.0, a chain can only use one coretime, and after 2.0, coretime can be used flexibly on demand, as shown in the figure below: 2.0 has been launched on KSM a few months ago and will soon be launched on the polkadot mainnet
