Trump's tariff strategy has succeeded again. His initial threat of a 50% tariff on India has been reduced to 18%, on the condition that India halts oil imports from Russia and purchases $500 billion worth of US energy products. He has also agreed to gradually reduce tariffs and non-tariff barriers on Indian imports of US goods to zero.
European politicians have been chanting slogans for two years, but they are still indirectly supporting Putin (by importing Russian energy and re-exporting it to Europe). This move directly cuts off their lifeline and also completes the entanglement of US and Indian interests.
Now it depends on how the US Supreme Court rules on Trump's tariff policy. If it upholds the existing policy, then the tariff policy is essentially set in stone. If it rejects it, the Trump administration has already prepared alternative plans, using other US laws to indirectly implement the existing tariff policy. This is the most frightening aspect, meaning Trump has gained global regulatory power beyond that of the Federal Reserve—markets open to those who comply, walls erected against those who resist.
Okay, now Trump has achieved his goal, shouldn't he stop this nonsense?
