During Tesla's earnings call yesterday, Elon Musk personally announced the discontinuation of the Model S and Model X.
Musk: "It's time for the Model S and X to retire with honor."
Production will officially cease in Q2 2026, with the entire Fremont factory production line being converted to produce the Optimus humanoid robot. These two cars have been on the market for 14 years, and now they're being discontinued without even a successor!
🔶 The Robotics Race is Accelerating
Not just Tesla, but many are betting on it:
• Figure AI raised $675 million last year
• Boston Dynamics continues to iterate on Atlas
• @openmind_agi is working on a robot "App Store," allowing developers to deploy applications directly on robots, and has also partnered with Circle to enable robots to autonomously complete payment transactions.
The robotics race is poised to explode in 2026.
