Puffer UniFi is currently a Based Rollup (relying on L1 proposer ordering and Preconf AVS for finality) and has not yet reached a complete Native Rollup state.
The core requirement of a Native Rollup is the deployment of an L1 EXECUTE precompiled contract (address 0x0B or similar), allowing L1 to directly replay L2 block execution and verify state transitions. Currently, this precompilation is only in the proposal stage (led by Justin Drake, a core Ethereum Foundation developer and Puffer advisor; the related EIP is still in draft form, and a hard fork is expected at the earliest in late 2026 or 2027 before consolidation).
In addition, the upgrade to Native Rollup is a one-way protocol layer optimization, which has no negative impact on existing user assets and experience. It only removes a small number of remaining trust assumptions and achieves permanent synchronization of the L1 execution environment.
