$ASTER
Everyone knows about the massive liquidation and liquidity drain that happened on HyperLiquid, right? This is the biggest problem with DEX perpetual contracts. In extreme cases, there are no counterparties, so the contract can go long indefinitely until the long position's profit exceeds its principal, at which point it withdraws its capital. As for how it profits, I think there are two options: shorting HyperLiquid or shorting Popcat. Both are guaranteed to make money.
For DEX on-chain contracts, if this kind of mess happens a few more times, it'll be finished, and eventually nobody will use on-chain contracts.
What I can't stand is people saying with disdain, "Aster will reach 20U," but I believe that Cake's fate today will be Aster's tomorrow. After a bear market crash, even 0.2U will be difficult. If things like HyperLiquid happen a few more times, nobody will dare to continue using on-chain contracts. It will eventually collapse.
I'm just trying to pour cold water on those who are calling for Aster. CZ has absolutely no idea how to trade. I don't know if Aster was incubated within Binance, but it's certain that a portion of Aster's tokens belong to CZ; otherwise, why would he be promoting it? There's no smoke without fire. Think about it: who gets all those locked tokens? How big is the difference between the tokens burned through profit buybacks and the unlocked tokens? Cake has been deflationary for a year, and what's the price like? Binance itself isn't even trying to boost it. Anyone who bought Aster above 1.5U is stuck at the peak for life, believe it or not. If you really want to buy, and are willing to hold long-term, you can buy some Cake. If you buy now at 2.5U, you'll eventually make a profit if you invest over a year. But if you buy Aster at 1U, it's hard to say whether you'll break even years later. This is the difference between a purely deflationary token and a large number of locked tokens. Look at L2, look at ARB, OP, APT, and SUI; a large number of retail investors are trapped, and it's very difficult to escape alive.
