I spoke with someone who renovates museums in Italy. He said that all the paintings are put in glass cases when they're re-hung, "because people throw soup on them." Those foolish protesters have completely changed the world, and for the worse.
A hundred years from now, these paintings will still be in glass cases. The museum administrators won't even know why. Everything will seem perfectly natural. So, aside from the occasional restoration worker, probably no one will ever see them without their glass cases again.
