According to Foresight News, Solana co-founder Toly responded to rumors of him independently building a perp DEX on Solana, stating that he was simply experimenting with using Claude to generate Pinocchio and testing it with Surfpool. He wanted to see if it was possible to replicate the same prop-AMM competition, but targeting perps. He envisioned a perp DEX program that would utilize a single block of memory within an account for all operations, equipped with its own liquidity provision, risk, and matching engines, and designed a router capable of rebalancing across multiple positions.
He also stated, "I accidentally released a code repository publicly, and the world went crazy."
