According to Odaily Planet Daily, CoinGecko co-founder Bobby Ong said that about 50,000 new tokens were created every month from 2022 to 2023, and increased to 400,000 in the fourth quarter of 2024, and 600,000 in January 2025. The driving factors include the emergence of token incubation platforms, the reduction of resistance to issuing coins, the increase in tokenization adoption and the Meme coin boom. Blockchain network and DEX are also developing, launching 5-10 new blockchains every month, and adding 17 new ones in May 2024. The number of DEXs has increased, and 89 new blockchains have been tracked in March 2024. One billion tokens may be created in the next five years. Ong admits that too many tokens can distract traders from their attention and liquidity.
