The Karnataka High Court in India ordered the government to immediately block the relevant domain names of the encrypted email service Proton Mail under the Information Technology Act 2008. The order stems from a January complaint from a New Delhi design company accusing its employees of receiving offensive emails through Proton Mail, which refused to provide the sender information to authorities. In March 2024, the Proton team reported that Indian authorities had proposed blockade of the service due to a “poof bomb threat”, but it did not take effect. The court held that Proton Mail's actions could threaten national security and the lockdown measures are yet to be enforced. (Cointelegraph) https://t.co/5HWVeY7V3W
