Hello everyone! Here is a blog post written by Hsiao-Wei and Tomasz. We have been officially a co-executive director for nearly a month. The honeymoon period is over, and it's time to speed up.

Moment of transformation and opportunity

Ethereum has been a journey: it is an evolving ecosystem driven by people working to build a more open and decentralized world. Although the Ethereum Foundation (EF) has been established for ten years, it still maintains a spirit of self-innovation.

This year, the foundation has adopted a new leadership model: it is jointly led by two executive directors. This design introduces a diverse and complementary perspective, enhancing our ability to deal with complex challenges. We are full of expectations and are ready to meet future opportunities and challenges, while adhering to Ethereum's core values, guided by long-termism, spirit of collaboration and sense of responsibility.

It is worth emphasizing that the foundation is not a "two carriage", it does its own thing. Our relationship is based on mutual respect, trust and shared values. We work closely together to make different opinions constructively and ultimately move forward as a team that is consistent in our goals.

Our Principles and Focus

Looking ahead, we will take two pillars as the core of our work: guiding principles (our core values) and goals (pursuing influence and resilience). Technical excellence runs through all our work and is the foundation for achieving our mission.

As executive directors, our role is to implement the Foundation’s vision in a changing world, covering strategic planning, ecosystem management, team leadership and operational oversight, aiming to support the long-term development of Ethereum.

The values ​​we adhere to include:

• Resistance to censorship: Ensure that Ethereum is always an open network, where anyone and anywhere can trade and build freely without external permission or control.
• Open Source Innovation: Promote collaboration, transparency and community-driven development through open sharing of knowledge and tools.
• Privacy protection: While ensuring security, maintain individual freedom and autonomy in the digital world.
• Security: Maintain the trust, resilience and robustness of the Ethereum ecosystem by prioritizing security design and continuous research.

These values ​​will guide us to make decisions on technology choices, ecological support, and the long-term vision of Ethereum as a public resource.

On the basis of adhering to these values, we have set the following main directions for the next 12 months:

• Promote the expansion of Ethereum mainnet (L1)
• Promote the expansion of "blobs"
• Improve user experience (including L2 interoperability and application layer development)

This means that we will focus on improving the interoperability and coordination between the main network and Layer 2 (L2), optimizing user experience and developer experience (DevEx), giving application layer and L2 more display and support at conferences such as Devcon, and expanding their influence through various communication channels.

In addition, we also recognize that it is necessary to accelerate the path of developers, entrepreneurs and institutions toward the Ethereum ecosystem. The Foundation has rich knowledge and leaders, and is able to guide, attract and empower a new generation of builders.

Ethereum is opening a new chapter. The core values ​​remain unchanged: open source, censorship resistance, privacy and security. The foundation itself is changing - we will communicate more openly and dare to quickly enter difficult but necessary dialogue.

In the future, we will focus on execution speed, responsibility, clear goals and measurable indicators. We will focus on the success of the Ethereum mainnet protocol: the Ethereum mainnet will continue to exist as a global neutral network, trustworthy and trustless protocol.

We not only focus on the main network, but also on the entire ecosystem - supporting L2 projects that promote large-scale applications, bringing more convenience and value to users. The main network will serve as a solid pillar and flexible support network behind all transactions and coordination mechanisms.

This journey is exciting - we are experiencing unprecedented technological and social changes, and we will move forward with a group of builders with both vision and practical spirit.

In the next year, we will focus on expanding the Ethereum mainnet (L1), and support the expansion and security of the L2 chain through the best architecture to enhance user confidence. At the same time, we will strive to make the entire chain ecology feel like a whole, and optimize user experience, design and interoperability through excellent engineering technology and cutting-edge research.

My top priority over the next few months is to strengthen the foundation’s operations capabilities to better support the growth of the ecosystem. Only a foundation with adaptability and execution can better serve Ethereum's long-term mission.

As our direction of action becomes clearer, one of our goals is to better support the application layer of Ethereum. We will support builders and users by improving developers and user experience, clarifying standards, strengthening sub-ecosystems, and promoting the process from creativity to application implementation.

We are working to optimize planning, prioritization and coordination mechanisms within the Foundation and between the broader ecosystem to ensure that work is consistent with community needs and Ethereum’s cryptographic spirit.

Of course, the foundation's strengthening is only part of the transformation. What really drives the ecosystem forward is the continuous energy and creativity in the global Ethereum community.

The future of co-built

Ethereum is not an island, it is a vibrant and organically growing network that brings together community members, builders, researchers, artists, educators and dreamers. It is global, diverse, and proud of decentralization.

The creativity and resilience of the ecosystem continues to inspire us. The Foundation will continue to provide support where it is needed most, and will also actively give way as the ecosystem prospers itself. This is a community-led future.
