Recently, meme coins have been very popular, and I'd like to share some of my personal opinions. A good meme coin essentially relies on three things:
First, the meme needs to be catchy. Everyone should understand it immediately, be willing to share it, and it should become a popular joke and meme on social media. Just being funny isn't enough; it needs to have some substance, like "grassroots success" or "mocking the big shots," resonating with people.
Second, it needs a large community. There needs to be a large group of people who genuinely like the meme, spontaneously recruiting others, creating graphics, and building atmosphere, making it feel like playing a large-scale online game, not just simply trading coins. A vibrant community is essential for the coin's life.
Third, it shouldn't be too deceptive. The code shouldn't have vulnerabilities, and the team shouldn't secretly hold too many coins to dump. Even if it has no practical use, it needs basic integrity; otherwise, it will go to zero once the hype dies down.
But ultimately, meme coins are a collective game of "believe and you have, don't believe and you don't." They can soar to the sky when they're hot, but most end up ending up in a mess. You can play around with a small amount of money to experience the atmosphere, but don't take it seriously, and definitely don't bet your entire fortune. This is just internet fun; don't let it become a trap in your life.
Long-term thinking is never outdated. The mistake might be choosing the wrong targets. Recently, Chinese-language coins have been very active on Binance Square, which is good for the meme section. However, the leading Chinese-language coin on Binance only reached a peak market capitalization of 500 million, and Binance has more foreign users than Chinese users. Foreigners can't participate because they can't find it in search results; Chinese is too difficult for them. Due to restrictions in mainland China, this also greatly limits the growth potential of Chinese-language memes.
On the other hand, Ethereum has had market capitalizations of hundreds of billions, not to mention those in the billions or tens of billions. This is a stark contrast to the peak market capitalization of 500 million for Chinese-language coins.
I'm not trying to praise one while criticizing the other; I respect every contributor, I'm just stating objective facts! ❤️
