Barcelona Sagrada Familia Christmas Concert
As soon as the prelude to "Regina Coeli" began, tears almost welled up in my eyes. The title is Latin, meaning "Queen of Heaven," and it's a hymn to the Virgin Mary, dedicated to her. The composer is Michael Haydn (1737-1806).
It reminded me of when my grandmother would "trick" me into getting up early to go to church with her as a child. After prayer, we'd sing hymns together. Some adults would weep during their prayers, but I couldn't understand their logic. I looked up at the crack in the window; the sunlight streamed in, growing denser and denser. Occasionally, a white dove would fly past, scattering the light into tiny fragments. #Barcelona
