Yes, it's worse than you think… • Entry-level tech jobs: down 67% in one year. • Since the end of 2022, employment in AI-related jobs for the 22-25 age group has declined by 13%. • As of January 2026, 79,449 layoffs have been confirmed due to AI (this only includes company-acknowledged layoffs). • By 2025, AI will cause nearly 55,000 job losses in the US, 12 times the number of AI-related layoffs two years ago. • By 2025, a total of 1.17 million jobs will be laid off in the US (the highest since the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020). • A study by MIT found that artificial intelligence could already replace 11.7% of jobs in the US labor market (resulting in a $1.2 trillion wage loss). Recent Layoffs: • The US government laid off 300,000 employees. • Amazon laid off 30,000 employees. • Intel laid off 25,000 employees. • UPS laid off 78,000 employees. • Microsoft expects to lay off 15,000 employees by 2025.
