There was a magical period when "crypto Twitter" was a model of a public "town hall." Roughly from 2014 to 2018, and continuing until 2022, the industry's best and brightest minds openly debated, interacting with each other and everyone else.
This dynamic, both democratic and elitist, made it easy for like-minded people to find each other, and allowed smart, success-driven "outsiders" to quickly learn, network, and showcase their value.
After 2017, with the rapid growth of the cryptocurrency industry, two things happened: A. Rapid growth and the influx of marketing funds led to our feed being filled with hype rather than thoughtful opinions; B. The "best and brightest" people were mostly busy building their careers within their growing companies or ecosystems.
Subsequently, the number of bots proliferated, and the algorithms were tweaked, replacing the content we actually needed with inflammatory rhetoric. I can't remember the last time I got useful market intelligence from here. Recently, I've been focusing on X to understand the key themes being driven by robotic farms, thereby gaining insight into geopolitical trends.
