We've read many comments about the Ozempic video, and clearly many people are uncomfortable with it. Some friends said the video sounded like an advertisement or portrayed the drug as a simple "cure-all." This was not our intention, and frankly, we were quite surprised ourselves. We made this video to focus on the current scientific research regarding the drug's mechanism of action, including what researchers currently know and the health benefits it appears to offer to society. Our video is only about 10 minutes long, so we didn't delve into some related discussions, or only briefly mentioned them: for example, body image anxiety, the fact that some people take this drug simply to achieve a slim figure, the role of the food industry, the profit motives of pharmaceutical companies, healthcare inequalities, and the broader socioeconomic context. All of these aspects are important, but we wanted to focus on what we believe is most important right now: these drugs can bring tremendous health benefits and improved quality of life to many obese people, which is why we see such great potential in them. This truly is a potential revolution, and it's incredibly significant. We think they're great overall because the scientific research seems to point conclusively to this conclusion! We didn't intend to promote any particular drug or solve complex problems with a simple solution, but clearly, we failed to convey that clearly this time. We strive to explain complex science in an accessible way, but sometimes simplification inadvertently shifts the focus. This frustrates and annoys us, as this video represents a significant investment of our time and effort, and we never intended it to be controversial.
