This was the best gift I received before the Lunar New Year—this Paul's Pokémon card sold for $16.49 million at auction.
After breaking the $5 million record, this card had been stuck at $5.3 million, reaching $6.3 million including platform taxes, just surpassing the record set five years ago. I checked the card's price several times a day; it hadn't moved for a month. Today, the auction ended after two hours, and it rose by $200,000. I initially thought it was due to platform restrictions, and the card would eventually fizzle out at that price. Unexpectedly, in the last two hours, there was a surge in bids, causing the price to skyrocket.
My Pokémon cards and the trading platform's tokens are also rising in value. Gold and silver have been rising recently, while my assets have been declining. National news has been constantly reporting on Pokémon's event at the Yasukuni Shrine (which isn't true). Many unlucky things have happened around me; it feels like I'm having a really bad run of luck. But I haven't given up and keep buying more. I firmly believe that 2026 is the 30th anniversary of Pokémon, a big year for collectibles.
$cards
I'm still a little short of breaking even with $cards, but I feel like I'm on the right track. Let's wait and see. 👀
