As the BSC block interval shortens, the finality mechanism needs to keep pace.
BEP-590 improves the BSC fast finality mechanism, allowing proposers to incorporate votes from the most recent ancestor block (not just the parent block). This ensures the continued operation of the finality mechanism even during periods of network congestion.
Key Implications:
🔸 More reliable finality during congestion
🔸 Support for shorter block intervals
🔸 Core consensus or validator voting rules remain unchanged
Note: This update is not backward compatible; all validators must be upgraded. User-facing APIs and security assumptions remain unchanged.
