Recently, while discussing MBTI with friends and browsing Douyin and Xiaohongshu, I noticed many people don't understand why some HR professionals ask about astrology and MBTI in interviews.
Well, coincidentally, I ask them too.
Leaving aside astrology and interviews, MBTI is a valuable tool.
I think that when you have an initial, enjoyable conversation with someone and want to get to know them better, MBTI is an "efficient" tool—or rather, a lazy one.
It allows you to quickly gain a preliminary understanding of someone without having to accumulate observations over time, only to find you don't actually know them at all.
After understanding someone's MBTI, you'll have a general idea:
You'll know that F-type and T-type people communicate differently: whether they're direct or try to soothe you first;
You'll know if they feel secure through planning;
You'll know if they're outwardly expressive or inwardly focused.
Ready-made personality data, applicable to all kinds of communication and social situations—why not use it? I can't think of any reason.
Of course, MBTI isn't an absolute value. A person's personality changes with experience.
What's your MBTI? I'd love to know you guys too!
By the way, as an ENTJ, I really like INTJs. Anyone want to raise their hand? 🙋
