Wu has learned that the Hyper Foundation has proposed a validator vote to formally confirm that HYPE in the Assistance Fund has been burned, permanently removing the relevant tokens from circulation and total supply. The Assistance Fund automatically converts transaction fees into HYPE during L1 execution and deposits them into a system address. This address never owned the private key, and the funds cannot be retrieved. Validators who vote "agree" will acknowledge that this portion of HYPE has been burned, requiring no on-chain action, and will prohibit any future protocol upgrades from accessing this address. Voting intentions must be expressed on the governance forum by December 21st, and users can delegate to validators before December 24th. The final result will be calculated using a stake-weighted consensus mechanism.
