I got access to Sora 2 today and played it for quite a while. My initial impressions: 1. The Cameo feature is fantastic and incredibly fun—character consistency is excellent. It's not quite at Nano Banana level, but it's probably around 80% of the way there. 2. Most of the videos I've seen are actually quite unappealing (yet). TikTok and Reels are more engaging because they're longer, better edited, and more polished. Also, there's not a lot of content on Sora for the algorithm to feed right now. 3. What's currently lacking is production-quality editing (good editing, captions, hooks, etc.). I suspect OpenAI will release a very good editing tool for the Sora app itself in a few weeks/months. 4. The generation threshold is very strict—over half of the generations I've seen were inexplicably blocked, which is frustrating. Many people on Sora have complained about this as well. 5. OpenAI is really good at productization. If they can provide creators with tools to make their content more engaging, this app seems like it has great potential to become a mass-market consumer app. The creation process is incredibly simple, the results are stunning, and it's incredibly addictive. 6. Can't wait to see the API.
