According to CoinDesk, a report from the FBI Internet Crime Complaints Center (IC3) shows that the losses caused by cryptocurrency-related crimes in the United States reached $9.3 billion in 2024. This loss has increased by 66% from 2023, highlighting the increasing use of digital assets in online fraud. IC3’s annual report shows that nearly 150,000 complaints are related to cryptocurrencies, with investment scams being the most common, and scammers often pretend to provide high returns on fake cryptocurrency platforms, tricking victims into transferring funds and then stealing them.
