Author: Mat Source: X, @ materkel Translation: Shanoba, I am tired of all the negative comments surrounding Ethereum and Rollup, and the entire ecosystem is currently in a stage of crazy development. Those who only see what we currently have and still believe that Ethereum should prioritize expanding L1... Are you crazy? Let me tell you what would happen if we expand L1: Currently, TPS on L1 may only be 50-100, and I believe all skeptics will accomplish everything on Ethereum L1. Previously aligned with Ethereum, Rollup will definitely choose alternative solutions to achieve DA scalability (Ethereum can now be used as the DA implementation). We won't have hundreds of Rollup teams contributing to the Ethereum and EVM ecosystems. The marketing of the Ethereum ecosystem will be minimal... L2 will ultimately only do their own thing, because if Ethereum chooses to give up on them at the most critical moment, why would they stay? Despite funding a significant amount of ZK and Rollup research in the past (even over 5 years ago), Ethereum basically pushes away its most valuable allies. Now we are gaining much more benefits from L2, and with the emergence of PeerDAS and complete proto banking, there will be no debate as to why these Rollups still consider doing their own thing or choosing a different DA. What I mean is, look at what's happening with $TIA... Ethereum is basically eroding their market share now. We now have multiple consensus and execution client teams, making Ethereum the most decentralized public blockchain to date. To my knowledge, no other blockchain has 2 widely adopted clients... Ethereum has 7 clients that account for over 10%, which is truly incredible. Multiple Rollups are currently one of the most active chains. Base and Arbitrum are breaking their own records every few days, attracting billions of TVLs and millions of users, expanding wildly, having significant appeal, and having a growing application ecosystem with more Ethereum centered themes. For example, Immotable has attracted hundreds of game studios and ultimately millions of game players to abstract wallets sponsored by Immotable Passport or Infinix, which is not easy to achieve on L1 (at least not so fast), and we may have the cheapest L1 gas fees. The introduction of EIP-4844 blob has made room for more meaningful transactions. During peak periods, L2 occupies approximately 30% of the Ethereum block space (which is likely temporary and also frees up some time for us to focus on L1). I undoubtedly believe that what Ethereum is doing is the best protocol result we hope to see in the past 3-4 years. Of course, L1 can also have some improvements, but this criticism is too much, making people feel that we are just making excuses because the price meets expectations. If you told me 3-4 years ago what Ethereum would be like now, I couldn't imagine it being in a more stable position. Now we can discuss what to do next. Taking the Rollup route further may not be a good idea, or we should focus on fixing issues such as fragmentation and delaying some things to focus on whether L1 improvement is a good idea. I fully support this, but please stop all complaints because we just released an upgrade a few months ago that cost Base and other Rollups less than 1 cent... Ethereum and its entire ecosystem are still winning, and as this behemoth, which is expanding in parallel by thousands of ecosystem teams, is just getting started, nothing can stop it from achieving even greater victories.
